This waterfront new build provided wonderful opportunities as well as challenges. Raised up above the surrounding landscape on a north facing lot these gardens would have to withstand the worst of New England winters while also thriving under salt spray and summer heat. The steep front slope and rustic stone hardscape provided a canvas for plantings that combine the wildness and movement of a seascape with the lushness and season long color and of a cottage garden.
